F&D T-280 SoundBase: My First Impression
Recently I bought this soundbase for my PC sound System. It's an okay product. Nothing exceptional. A sort of medium-fi system.
A view with the front mesh removed.
The rear side with RCA, Optical, Coax and USB connector.
The top control section along with the cheap remote.
PROS:
1. Good Bass Response. Can be room shattering with proper media.
2. Good Mid bass Reproduction. Good Sound Stage Creation. Good for Jazz lovers.
3. High Wattage Output , can be really loud.
4. Space Saver
5. Can be a okay near-field speaker system for your PC with proper equalization.
6. Good overall sound reproduction if your source music is good ( flac, 320 kbps mp3 etc.)
7. Good Bluetooth connectivity with mobile devices.
CONS:
1. Noticeably weak treble/ high frequency response. Sometimes this is very irritating. Not a true Hi-Fi system. I used two software equalizers in tandem ( pc sound card Equalizer + VLC player Equalizer) to compensate the weak high frequency response to some extent with the help of an audio spectrum analyzer app, without compromising the overall sound quality .
2. BASS control can only be operated using the remote. So if the remote controller module is lost or out of order you won't be able to boost the bass frequency and this is a serious issue.
3. The TV-SURROUND effect button completely halts the sound output of the system for some two plus seconds. So it's very difficult to compare the sound with or without the surround effect instantly.
4. The remote controller module is a cheap Chinese crap, at least look and feel wise.
